Lipoma Removal

A lipoma is a benign growth made up of fatty tissue that commonly develops beneath the skin. Lipomas are usually harmless but may be removed if they are painful, increasing in size, causing discomfort or for other clinical reasons.

Cyst Removal

Treatment depends on the type and condition of the cyst. When surgical removal is appropriate, the cyst and its surrounding capsule may be removed to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.

An acutely infected cyst or abscess may require drainage and treatment of the infection before definitive removal is considered.

Not every skin or soft-tissue lump is a cyst or lipoma. Other types of lumps can include fibromas and other benign lesions.

Earlobe repair is a minor surgical procedure that can usually be performed under local anaesthesia. The technique and expected result depend on the extent of the tear or stretching.

A skin abscess is a collection of pus caused by an infection and may present with pain, swelling, redness and tenderness.

An abscess may require drainage to relieve the collection and treat the infection. Depending on the circumstances, antibiotics or further treatment may also be required.

Patients with a painful, rapidly enlarging or spreading skin swelling should seek medical assessment rather than attempting to drain it themselves.
